Mozy is awesome… I’m still paying the $5 a month but haven’t backed anything up since Feb because my machine has been kind of unstable due to hardware issues.. but totally worth it. I’m disappointed that they increased their prices to get the data delivered to you on DVD via FedEx.

Right now I’m really liking my combination of Outlook/ActiveSync/Google Calendar. I have to use Outlook at work, but I use ActiveSync to get sync with my phone and the Google Cal Sync from Google to sync between Outlook and GCal. So I can put a new entry on my phone, Outlook, or even Google Calendar and within seconds (or at the start of my next work day) everything gets synced. The real power..which I have yet to find a huge use for is sharing the Google calendar to anyone. I think it is is neat.

Oh I’m also loving Hamachi and Rhythmbox’s DAAP feature.

Worship is sometimes just looking at a fantastic sunset and saying “wow.” Worship is sometimes looking at your kid and saying “oh, how beautiful.” Worship is sometimes realizing that grace means that the price was paid, there’s now way I can afford to pay it back, but no repayment is expected and thinking “wow.”

I love your analogy of the different types of art and worship … good way to make the point.

It’s not frontrow. I ordered a tuner from Elgato.com. They just came out with one that supports all formats (NTSC, ATSC, & QAM) and had a deal going during Macworld. All I have to do is hook up my Time Warner cable and I will have like 8 HD channels. Still not all the HD channels, just the basics, but better than nothing. They record to MPEG so editing and conversion is easy.

Eventhough I have a HD tuner (ATSC) with my current computer, it’s not beefy enough to handle the signal. Even HD trailers from apple.com have trouble running. (Athlon 64, 3200 , 2GB Ram, ATI X800XL 256MB, etc)

And I didn’t know Front Row (Leopard) could record HD video? I’ve also heard that in order to rent HD moveis from the iTMS you have to have an Apple TV, not a computer.

I would move back to WinXP or switch to linux man. Ubuntu has a great amount of hardware support right out of the box. I have a dual-boot miracle working… I can boot into my SATA drive and go into Windows XP.. or I can boot to my PATA drive load Ubuntu and run 99% of the time with no problem.. but when I need to run my iTunes library.. I can load up my Windows XP install from within Ubuntu with VMWare (the same exact installation of XP living on my SATA drive. I love it!! And even with my older hardware (AMD Sempron 2600, 1GB RAM, Radeon 9250 [which has horrible but working support in Linux]).

With my video card I can’t do the fancy XGL graphics with the latest Compiz Fusion… but I do have a solid system that does anything and everything I need and runs two operating systems simultaneously fast enough for me to get stuff done. (I’ll leave Ubuntu running all the time and Remote Desktop to my WinXP VM from my work laptop all of the tim). Yeah.. I can’t go on about how easy this was to setup. hehe

Instructions on installing CS2 on Ubuntu (Mint is based off of Ubuntu so the steps should be very similar or exact if you were to use Ubuntu).

Less luck for iTunes on Linux. But there are many good music apps out there for Linux like Amarok (my current fav) or Banshee. Both solid choices.

Yeah, I’d say that is one of the biggest problems with Linux right now lack of support in commercial software.

I’ve tried Linux 3-4 times, but never really liked it much. I might give it another shot…but I wouldn’t hold my breath. I HAVE to have access to the Adobe Creative Suite (photoshop, illustrator, indesign) daily…not to mention iTunes and a few others.

For now, I found the problem- the xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver. It’s this little thing that lets me use my xbox 360 controller with windows. Until yesterday I didn’t have it plugged in, except for when in use. I realized I had an unused USB port so I decided to hook it up. I didn’t remember until today…because of course, what impact should that have on sound and video playback?

the internet/network still isn’t working right…but at least we’re back to where we started.

I’ve found myself lacking passion sometimes too. Work helps me because I go and once I get into it, I see all these things that I love doing and am passionate about.

College was the same way. Working on crap projects burnt me out but working on cool projects I enjoyed made me even more passionate about the subject matter.

Both have a common thread. Consistency. I think you are exactly right. If I didn’t have to do those things for classes or get up every Monday morning and go to work I might loose interest as well. Sometimes the worse things in life can work out to be good things (I think).

I like the new look, very clean. Sorry I haven’t replied to your email.. I’ve been crazy busy as of late with Christmas plans all happening and then everything Kristin and I are working on for the wedding. Anyway, I don’t know of anything to do about the old feed, except if you could get a copy of the current feed, and just manually edit the xml to have an entry about the new feed location. I’ve never heard of anything in the rss spec about updating feed location, but I bet that would be a killer feature, if it really isn’t possible now they should do that.

I think God can use our dreams but because they are dreams, I think he will show us what he means by them using other methods as well (prayer, the Bible, other people or events). It’s like he gives us the dream, then he also has someone talk to us about it, that way we have more to go by then just the dream.

where I work, if you are someone who has an email account (some people don’t like cooks or people who mow the grass) you have to check and communicate via email. if you didn’t you’d end up getting fired because you didn’t do something you were supposed to or didn’t get back to someone who emailed you. there are lots of people where i work that have blackberrys and communicate via email constantly, in the car, in a meeting, at their desk, when they are on a trip, at home.. 24/7.

Back when I was in Kindergarten a little girl in my classroom made fun of me for being different. I remembered how much it hurt my feelingsâ€¦I came home after school crying and telling my dad what happened. He pulled me into his lap and said, â€œCandy, have you ever noticed how God made lots and lots of tall people, but he only made a few little people? Thatâ€™s because he wanted you to be extra special and he spent more time making you because he loved you so much!â€ I still remember that when Iâ€™m faced with stares and rude comments. I donâ€™t care if it sounds juvenile, its still one of the best statements Iâ€™ve heard in my life. I got to pass it along to my little sister Charity when a lady made a comment about her being a dwarf. She took it just like meâ€¦smiled and went on her way. Dads are wonderful arenâ€™t they?

i think the quality of the family guy shows this season have been about the same as the old ones. family guy has always pushed the envelope on just about every issue i can think of. there was that one episode from season 3 i think that fox wouldn’t air that kind of picked on jewish people. you are right that the first episode with passion of the christ 2 was pretty harsh on christians, but i think family guy is kinda like that commercial for south park where they say something like they apoligize if they have left anyone out of the fun making. just my 3 cents.

A long time ago Dan said something that made sence to me about the purpose of the church. It (the gathering) can be a temple or a mission. The temple is where believers go to gather, have fun, and be together. The mission is where people come to learn about Jesus and be changed. Both serve a purpose and I don’t know that one is better then the other, but I think Jesus would want the church to server the purpose of the mission more then the temple. Just my opinion.

hopefully one of these days we’ll be able to subscribe to only what we want to watch via a video podcast and watch it when we want to because it will be saved to hard disk. we also won’t have to buy dvd sets because we’ll have the archive of the whole season on a backup. All of this assumes that DRM and the wonderful people who want to make us pay for things 5 times don’t get in the way.

Another thing that got on my nerves was that these programs didn’t support the extra cool features like the images in the back of the chat window or animations or voice chat or one of the other myraid of add-on type stuff that comes with a IM client these days. Not a big downer.. but something to note.
