IMHO #1 – Life

Here’s just a quick observation…

One really great thing about the internet is that you can be whoever you want to be. You can say things that you wouldn’t normally say, talk to people you wouldn’t normally talk to, and become someone, or at least create the image of yourself that your life is better/more interesting than it actually is. I get this observation from looking around on Flickr and thinking “i wonder what these people are like in real life” and often I think that they are probably quiet and kind of nerdy, but on the inside they have such incredible talents and insights that only people from 2000 miles away could/would ever appreciate.

This post isn’t heading where I thought it would.

What I initially wanted to say or refer to is that it’s never too late to start fresh. People CAN change and people CAN become who they want to be in real life…it just takes a little guts to put yourself out there. I have a good friend, who is about old enough to be my dad, that recently went through a drastic life change when he found out he had cancer. I didn’t know him very well before, but the man that I know now is…well…awesome [for a lack of a better word]. He has become the man that he wanted to be, started doing the things he thought he should do, and saying the things he thought he should say…and you know what, people love him because of it – I’m one of them! So my point is simply this- stop pretending. Stop creating the “image” you want people to see…and start actually being who you want to be. Let me say that again…

Stop creating the “image” you want people to see…
Start being who you want to be.

that’s all.
