Summer is here and it feels great. It’s been warmer than usual for the past week or two, settling in around the low 80’s consistently. Yesterday we planted our garden which is quickly becoming one of my favorite days of the year. Besides the obvious thoughts of the crops that will be harvested in a month or two, it just fills me with a general manly-man feeling. I mean, not that there’s a lot of heavy lifting involved or serious tools, but it’s the whole “i don’t need any fancy technology to do this job” thing. it’s just rewarding to do something that is going to bring around a great result with nothing more than a little elbow grease.
Today I spent a couple hours outside playing with my nieces. we raced down a hill riding on little plastic riding toys for a while and then later turned our attention to some serious bubble making duties. I did a little research and found a bubble formula which worked out pretty well. It was a little sporadic, but we created some pretty big bubbles- the biggest around 3 feet in diameter. The big challenge wasn’t creating the bubbles, it was keeping the little fingers from busting them! Regardless, it was a lot of fun. After that we came in for dinner then Jen and I went out to my uncles on a fishing trip. I only caught four little blue-gill, but as i was standing on the corner of the pond, I looked across the water at the setting sun and had one of those “life is good” moments. It was gorgeous.
Anyway…the Reds game just ended (they won!) so I think it’s time to get off here. One last thing to brighten your day…check this site out:
