Wiiiiiiiiii!

Wii Heaven

Well, as you can see I found a Wii.  Actually I found 4.  It all started on Tuesday…

*begin dream sequence*
I woke up and checked my email and a few websites I frequent.  One of those sites is this “Wii Tracker” which basically is just a list of places that carry the Wii and whether or not it’s in stock.  To my surprise that morning it showed up as “in stock” for the first time since…well November I think.  So I started clicking away, adding it to my cart, checking my shipping address, credit card, etc.  Meanwhile I hoped on the phone to call a friend of mine.  Her husband has been pining over the Wii for a while…in fact he has already bought games for it.  So, i asked if he had one yet…by the time she said no, I had already completed my order.  a few hours later i received a shipping notice and today it arrived via UPS.   This afternoon we went to do a little shopping I had to pick up a few things and while we were out my friend asked me to purchase a couple of accessories.  So, we were hunting around a bit…We had dinner in the food court at the mall when i noticed there was a Wii sitting in the window of FYE…and that we should check there for accessories.  We went in and quickly found out that they didn’t have anything.  The salesperson said “no, we don’t have anything but games…in fact we just got a shipment of the systems in.  we have 3 of them.  i looked at Jen and said “lets buy one and put it on ebay”.  She agreed so, out we walked with a Wii (#2).  We did a little more shopping, hit Sams and Toys R Us…then i thought…you know, if we can sell this on ebay for profit, why not do it with 3!  So…we rushed back, ran into the store and bought the other two (#3 & 4).

Jen felt a little guilty…”poor little Jimmy isn’t going to get a Wii because we just cornered the market!”.  I said “it’s supply and demand honey.  We have the supply, so lets take it to the demand!”.

I feel a little weird knowing that there are 4 Wii’s in my house and I can’t touch them!  It’s driving me crazy!  Anyway…
In other news Jen has been knitting like crazy.  If she would get her blog fixed, you would know this.   She asked me to post this picture and ask “which is cuter?”

Sock & Wii

art [as in music]

This isn’t the first and it won’t be the last rant about contemporary worship music you’ll hear from me.  I’m sick and tired of the burnt out praise and worship choruses.  period.  just as an example, here are two songs…the first is a common song sang at my church:

Let the poor man say I am rich again
Let the lost man said I am found again
Whoa, let the river flow
Let the blind man say I can see again
Let the dead man say I am born again
Whoa, let the river flow
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let the river flow.

Let the river flow
Let the river flow
Holy spirit come
Moving power
Let the river flow.

Let the poor man say I am rich again
Let the lost man said I am found again
Whoa, let the river flow
Let the blind man say I can see again
Let the dead man say I am born again
Whoa, let the river flow
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let the river flow.

Let the river flow
Let the river flow
Holy spirit come
Moving power
Let the river flow

Kind of repetitious don’t you think?  I mean…seriously where is the art in that?  where is the meaning?  And here is an old hymn for comparison.

O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O light that followest all my way,
I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray,
That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.

O Cross that liftest up my head,
I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.

Now that is art.  Pure poetry circa 1882
