Christmas in July.

Today I went out to mow the grass and like I always do, I put my headphones in. I didn’t look too closely at what was on my playlist, but instead just hit “Play”. What came up was Andrew Peterson’s album “Behold the Lamb of God” (a Christmas album). I almost changed it, but then decided I would listen to the first couple songs first. Well…that turned into listening to the entire album…yes, a Christmas album in the middle of summer. But first you must understand that this is no ordinary Christmas album…it’s like no other. Instead of focusing each song on the litteral birth of Jesus, it splits it up and spends a lot of time talking about the history that came before Jesus’ birth. The first song for example is entirely about Moses…what does Moses have to do with Jesus? Well everything! This album has helped me to see that… Jesus isn’t just my Savior, He is the savior for all man kind. He was the fullfillment of prophecy that had been spoken of for thousands of years before His birth.

Besides being an album filled with tons of provoking thoughts, besides being a truly original Christmas album, this album is purely genius musically as well. Unlike many modern day albums which seem to be just a hodge-podge of hit singles, this album was thought out and moves as if it were just one song with many different pieces fitting together to make it whole. If you listen to one song you may think it sounds good…but when you fit it into the puzzle, it sounds great- it all makes sense.

I love this album…even in July.
behold
