If you aren’t using Mozilla Firefox this post won’t really have any effect on you. You of course should be using Firefox though…there’s no reason not to!
Anyway, Firefox works with what is known as extensions, which are similar to plug-ins. You can add on little features here and there to customize the way you browse the web. A lot of the extensions out there are not that great, but every once in a while I come across one that is just incredible. Adblock is one of those. Sure Firefox does a good job of blocking pop-ups, but Adblock is much more. Not only does it block pop-ups, but also all of those other ads that are imbeded into the pages you look at. Take one of my favorite sites, CNet for example. When you load their page, there is a big ad across the top and a few other little ones here and there…with adblock, nothing but blank space. it’s a thing of beauty. not only does it block you from exposure to pesky ads, it also blocks you from some dangerous scripts which can be used to hack your system…so it’s good all around.
You can get it here: Adblock
I would also advise using this - Filterset.G
(instructions are at the top)
