Since downloading Yahoo’s music service, I’ve been checking out some new music. There are two albums that stand out and I’ve been listening to a lot in my spare time. First, a new artist, Shawn McDonald. I first heard him on XM a few weeks ago. I was thinking I’d buy the album, but i was afraid that his other songs wouldn’t be as good. Well…rest assured, the album is great. It’s very stripped down, particularly on this album, but I like it. Just a voice and a guitar most of the time with some other things filling here and there. The second album is from one of the biggest names in Christian music, Jars of Clay. When I first heard about this album I was like “Oh, another worship album…great. Come on Jars of Clay, you’re a little behind!” Thankfully my first impression faded once I started listening to the album. There are a few old hymns done with new twist, some new catchy songs, and just a great feel all around. Some of the sounds are somewhat innovative, bringing in less common instruments for the genre, and that’s what catches me more than anything. a great effort by Jars of Clay. a good listen if you’re looking for something fresh: Jars of Clay - Redemption Songs
