a little lag in posting.
not a lot going on lately, just the normal everyday stuff. i sold my motorcyle yesterday which was a bittersweet event. I’m now looking for an upgrade, but unfortunately only thing I’ve found is in Conneticut and i’m just not quite that desperate…yet. anyway…that’s all for now, more updates to come.
I just have to send out some “props” to Tony Woodlief. I don’t know this guy personally, but Jen and I have been enjoying his blog for several months now. He’s been keeping his site updated a little more lately (kind of like me!) and even has an article up at National Review Online. He’s an incredible writer…and seems to be a great father and husband. In a weird little way, I guess I think of him as a rolemodel for myself. I can only hope to write as well as he does someday.
Check out his site here: Sand in the Gears
If you aren’t using Mozilla Firefox this post won’t really have any effect on you. You of course should be using Firefox though…there’s no reason not to!
Anyway, Firefox works with what is known as extensions, which are similar to plug-ins. You can add on little features here and there to customize the way you browse the web. A lot of the extensions out there are not that great, but every once in a while I come across one that is just incredible. Adblock is one of those. Sure Firefox does a good job of blocking pop-ups, but Adblock is much more. Not only does it block pop-ups, but also all of those other ads that are imbeded into the pages you look at. Take one of my favorite sites, CNet for example. When you load their page, there is a big ad across the top and a few other little ones here and there…with adblock, nothing but blank space. it’s a thing of beauty. not only does it block you from exposure to pesky ads, it also blocks you from some dangerous scripts which can be used to hack your system…so it’s good all around.
You can get it here: Adblock
I would also advise using this - Filterset.G

Since downloading Yahoo’s music service, I’ve been checking out some new music. There are two albums that stand out and I’ve been listening to a lot in my spare time. First, a new artist, Shawn McDonald. I first heard him on XM a few weeks ago. I was thinking I’d buy the album, but i was afraid that his other songs wouldn’t be as good. Well…rest assured, the album is great. It’s very stripped down, particularly on this album, but I like it. Just a voice and a guitar most of the time with some other things filling here and there. You can purchase the album here:
Shawn McDonald - Live In Seattle
suggested songs: Take My Hand, All I Need

The second album is from one of the biggest names in Christian music, Jars of Clay. When I first heard about this album I was like “Oh, another worship album…great. Come on Jars of Clay, you’re a little behind!” Thankfully my first impression faded once I started listening to the album. There are a few old hymns done with new twist, some new catchy songs, and just a great feel all around. Some of the sounds are somewhat innovative, bringing in less common instruments for the genre, and that’s what catches me more than anything. a great effort by Jars of Clay. a good listen if you’re looking for something fresh: Jars of Clay - Redemption Songs
suggested songs: God Will Lift Up Your Head, Nothing But the Blood
