Dial M…

Jen and I watched “Dial M For Murder” tonight for the first time. It is the second Hitchcock film that I’ve watched in recent history. Some time ago after hearing my brother-in-law rave about “Rear Window” I gave it a shot and loved it. I’d heard about this film after researching Hitchcock and thought I’d give it a chance as well– and I’m glad I did.

Jen and I both had comments following it. Her’s was that she likes old movies because they’re just simple. I commented on how Hitchcock again barely even changed scenes…it mainly took place in one apartment (just like “Rear Window”– Jen hasn’t yet seen it). Another observation is that movies were so much cleaner back then. It’s really a shame that Hollywood has to depend on CGI and a plot as thick as phone books to sell tickets at the theater. Hitchcock is a genius.

halo 2

I recieve Halo 2 in the mail today (an early Christmas present)…I know, I know, what took me so long!? Well I would have had it on the day of release, but I was in Puerto Rico at the time, so I had to wait.

The first round of Halo back almost 3 years ago got me hooked. I had pretty much no interest in getting an Xbox until I played that game…it was addictive and quite possibly the best game I’d ever played. I thought that once I actually got the system and game it would wear off, but it didn’t. Halo is likely one of the greatest games ever made and probably the most groundbreaking first person shooter since Doom.

Now comes the sophomore version and while I’ve only played for a couple hours I think it’s safe to say that the trend continues. While it is no where near what the first one was in originality it truly has been well thought through it seems. There are definitely a lot more changes than I expected. Every change seems to bend the game to be more fair . I’m really anxious to see how multiplayer works out.

Anyway…in summary: Halo 2– worth the wait.

tech tv blunder.

Over the summer I began watching Tech TV..mainly just one show– “The Screen Savers”. I remember thinking initially that the show was all about screensavers, but actually it’s about just general tech stuff…mainly regarding computers. So, about 2 months ago, right before we left for work again Tech TV had merged with G4 and in turn revamped the show. They got rid of one of the co-hosts, changed the set, and a few other things… After I watched a couple episodes I wasn’t impressed with the new layout. The new co-host wasn’t that good…his voice was kind of whinny and the other people on screen just weren’t very good. Along with that it seemed like it was focusing more on the 15-20 year olds…almost too much. At that point I had thought about writing Tech TV to tell them that I wasn’t impressed and I figure others aren’t either, but I didn’t. 2 months later I find out that evidentually I’m not the only one to think such things. A few days ago pretty much everyone on the show was fired, except the two people I like…and I guess the show is about to get yet another makeover.

Being in the entertainment biz and also being a tech-o-holic I saw this one coming… I can only hope that maybe they’ll get it right the next time.

Man, Tech TV…what were you thinking???

end of tour

In just a little more than 24 hours I will be unemployed. Barney’s Colorful World will be nothing more than a memory to me and the other 40 people it has employed for the past 2 years. I’d like to say I’m saddened by all of this, but to be truthful I don’t believe it has sunk in yet. I’m just so used to having breaks that last a week or a month and eventually coming back. The idea that this is it and there may never be any coming back just seems unreal to me.

I put together a video for the Wrap Party we had a couple nights ago…basically a collage of pictures and video just to reminice about the fun we’ve had and the people we’ve shared it with. The final song I used was by a band called Plankeye…I thought it would be appropriate to post the lyrics here:

it’s difficult to say goodbye after only one life
the rain will fall down replenishing all of our broken dreams
and this burning tree that’s withering will bloom again
would you believe
goodbye, goodbye
walk away it’s time to say goodbye
goodbye, goodbye
walk away it’s hard to say goodbye
now all that’s left , pictures on the walls
memories and stories that are told
the more often told the bigger they get
create a legacy lest we forget
goodbye, goodbye
walk away it’s time to say goodbye
no longer can i hold onto this defeated change in heart, i swear
it’s time to sing “fare thee well” to life as we know it
my voice it will be, you know i will be, yes it will be still
something woke me up in the midst of dream and fantasy
halfway there but He always fills my cup
and He lifts me up oh how He lifts me up
goodbye, goodbye
walk away it’s time to say goodbye
i never took the time to stop and realize that death takes many forms
even while alive
