Late Show

We arrived in New York just before 9am this morning. It was early…very early considering that we had to get off the bus and were told we wouldn’t get our rooms until 4pm. That’s a long time to roam around NY with no shower and no where to relax. After we got preregistered we took a walk down to the Ed Sullivan theater to see about Late Show tickets. Last time we were in NY we were approached and offered tickets; we were hoping for the same results this time. We weren’t so lucky, but I did take down the “standby” ticket number and figured we’d give it shot. About an hour later Jen called…and called…and called and finally got through! We were #5 & 6 on the list and were told that we would probably get in! I was excited…but I had to hold back, because we weren’t assured of tickets. Fast forward to 4:30pm. We showed up at the theater and then were put in order…only 4 people in front of us….then the guy started handing out tickets and shortly told us that we were going to get to see the show!!! Then I became REALLY excited!!! We waited in line for another 15 minutes or so and then we were in.

The show was a great experience. I was really excited and giddy so every joke seemed more funny than it really was. Switchfoot (one of my favorite bands) played which was a bonus. I’m a behind the seens tech guy so it was really interesting to see how things fit together technically…like for example, Dave came out to welcome the audience and litterally one minute later ran back and was introduced for the show. The show was a well oiled machine. Before we knew it we were kicked out onto the New York streets asking ourselves “what just happened?”

It was great.
